The FESTIVE ROAD
Introducing
The FESTIVE ROAD Managed Travel Model
The majority of the FESTIVE ROAD team have been managing travel inside of large companies for a long time. This experience reminds us every day of the importance of a strong base to manage from. For us that takes its form in our Managed Travel Model (MTM). For 15+ years we have been using this approach to ensure companies balance employee needs with managing costs. For many executives, travel is a misunderstood & frustrating management function. We have found that articulating how a programme builds and intersects is invaluable to them. At FESTIVE ROAD we review this model each year and reflect on changes that we see in the market. So here it is, the 2020 version.
To us it feels like a comfortable pair of slippers but if you’re seeing this for the first time it may need some explanation.
Sourcing & Servicing
Air/Rail – how your travellers will get from A to B, negotiated deals or maybe marketplace deals
Data – how you manage your supply & demand. Are you getting the right prices and how is travel impacting your employees
Lodging/Ground – where your travellers will stay/how they’ll get around whilst on the ground, negotiated deals or maybe marketplace deals
Engagement – more than communication. This is how you create 2-way dialogue to ensure your executive, travellers, suppliers and stakeholders needs are met. Translating ‘what’ you’re doing into ‘why’ you’re doing it
Payment – very simply enabling your travellers to pay & expense in the simplest most efficient way possible

Demand
We call this the optimal position, as you would need the whole programme working in-sync for this to happen. Demand is when you can influence and steer traveller choices to meet your business objectives.
